Career support throughout your degree
From the moment our students start, they get careers information and advice – from employers, our careers team, and their tutors. So, by the time they graduate, they will be equipped with the experience, contacts and skills to succeed in their chosen careers.
Work experience and placements
Work experience is vital in today's crowded jobs market. And while our students are here, we provide one-to-one support to help them find experience that fits their career plans.
Placement students are more likely to go into high-level graduate jobs and have a higher average starting salary. As well providing students with support in their search for a placement, our students will be prepared through tailored workshops. Previous students have secured a year-long placement at employers including:
DiGiCo, Focusrite Audio Engineering Ltd, G Force Software, MACH Acoustics, MJ Fergie/Troubatone, OPIS FILM d.o.o., PYTCH and SXS Events.

Our volunteering team will help students develop valuable skills through opportunities such as teaching IT skills, robotics or technical subjects in the community.
Other opportunities
Outreach and engagement opportunities give students the chance to take part in work with schools, colleges and industry.
Exhibitions such as our annual College of Arts, Technology and Environment Degree Show attract employers from across the region. This is the perfect opportunity to show employers work and network with potential employers.
We organise general and industry-focused job fairs throughout the year. This is the perfect opportunity to meet with employers who are looking to fill both placement-year and graduate job vacancies. Many of our students find their first job from attending these fairs.
Specialist careers support
Careers advice and coaching is available for each School. The Careers Service provide input into the curriculum and alongside degree programmes, giving up-to-date labour market and graduate destination information, as well as coaching for students in their professional development planning.
Students are emailed a fortnightly newsletter with news of top work-based learning opportunities, and can access the UWE Bristol Careers Toolkit which includes access to our services, a job search engine, resources, videos and employer information. Students can also come along to our twice daily careers drop-in or schedule a one-to-one with our dedicated team. We also arrange regular presentations and Q&As from leading sector employers.
