Annulment of exam board decision
Annulment of an examination board decision at UWE Bristol.
After a material and significant administrative error or other irregularity
The Academic Board may annul an Examining Board’s decision if there has been a material and significant administrative error or other material irregularity, or where it is not possible to reconvene an Examining Board. If the error or irregularity is found to have affected more than one student, the Academic Board may annul all or part of an assessment.
After an academic appeal
This follows consideration of an appeal by an Examining Board. If the Academic Board believes that the Examining Board did not take proper account of the factors for review, it may annul the decision of the board.
Affiliated institutions
If an original decision has not been modified following review (either due to an irregularity or an academic appeal), the Principal may recommend to the Academic Board that the decision of the Examining Board be annulled if, in their opinion, the Examining Board did not take proper account of the factors for review. The recommendation of the Principal must be made in writing to the University.
Appointing an Examining Board
Where a decision has been annulled, the Academic Board will appoint an Examining Board with the power to make decisions on students’ progress and/or awards, including, if necessary, the appointment of new external examiners.
