Skills development for researchers
Researcher Skills Development Programme
Research, Business and Innovation delivers Invest in Yourself, which offers skills development and training to all UWE Bristol staff engaged in research.
The programme supports staff to develop broad skills in areas such as research methods, writing, impact and engagement, and bidding. Whether you are an Early Career Researcher, an established researcher or a teaching academic looking to develop your research activity, you are invited to join us.
We also welcome research support staff seeking to deepen their expertise.
Book onto a workshop
Most longer workshops are offered face-to-face, allowing you to meet colleagues within and outside your discipline and providing support and networking opportunities. We also host a number of short online sessions, including our 'Focus on…' series which gives you essential information and starting points on key topics.
The writing space
We host a monthly Writing Space session, where staff and postgraduate researchers can focus on their writing in a supportive environment.
We get together on the second Monday of every month (October to June), from 09:30–12:00.
All UWE Bristol researcher staff and postgraduate researchers are welcome, and you can join us either in person at Frenchay Campus or online.
How to join
You can book your place via MyLearning. Please email skillsdevelopment@uwe.ac.uk if you have any questions.
Postgraduate researcher support
UWE Bristol's Doctoral Academy, part of Research, Business and Innovation, runs a separate programme of skills training for postgraduate research students.
