Workshops

Come along to our Centre for Music workshop, where you can get involved in building sets and using lighting rigs. Running every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 to 16:30.

The Production and Technical Team provide support to Centre for Music events throughout the year. They help with lighting, sound and staging. Plus setting up for gigs and events. The workshop is also an invaluable resource for repair and maintenance work. In 2019 the team designed and built the Centre for Music Jazz club from scratch. They also built our large storage unit. It now displays mural artwork from UWE Bristol's very own Oliver Turpitt.

There will be opportunities to get backstage at events in some of Bristol’s most iconic venues, such as the Bristol Beacon, the Old Vic and the Bristol Hippodrome.

It’s a great way to learn new skills and get involved with the performing arts industry, from theatre productions to live concerts.

Sound engineering

If being a sound engineer for live music events is more your thing, there are opportunities to train alongside experienced sound engineers and learn the ropes at live events at venues on campus and in the city.

Contact Gareth Ashworth at gareth.ashworth@uwe.ac.uk or the Centre for Music at cfm@uwe.ac.uk to get involved.
