The 3rd Community Psychology Festival
The third Community Psychology Festival will be held in the Arnolfini, Bristol on 15 and 16 September 2017.

The 3rd Community Psychology Festival was jointly hosted by UWE Bristol's Social Science Research Group and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
The festival was a friendly and accessible educational alternative to an academic conference with public participation at its heart. It was a celebration of the work of psychologists as well as community organisations, and showcases initiatives that fit with our ethos and themes.
The Festival had an international outlook and had hosted participants from Europe, Israel, the Americas, India and New Zealand. It could be attended by anybody with an interest in psychology or community work.
We welcomed contributions from related disciplines and opportunities to collaborate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Children and young people were particularly welcome as we had activities that will spark their interest in community engagement.
After London and Manchester, the Festival come to Bristol on September 15 and 16, 2017 at the prestigious Arnolfini Centre for Contemporary Arts. The theme of the festival was ‘Falling apart, pulling together: Collaboration in times of division

Community psychology
Community psychology is a recently reinvigorated branch of applied psychology that seeks to highlight the detrimental effects of structural inequality on mental health and wellbeing.
It is a discipline that strives to bring society into psychology and re-think the ‘expert-layman’ divide that has plagued psychology since its inception over 100 years ago.
Community psychologists work in diverse settings (NHS, academia, local government, third sector) and apply their skills in their everyday professional roles.
One of the explicit aims of community psychology is to challenge psychology’s socioeconomic blind spots by conducting rigorous research that presents a critical evidence-base.
