Latitude Festival Evaluation
Evaluation of activities sponsored by the Wellcome Trust at the 2014 Latitude Festival.
Dr Margarida Sardo and Dr Ann Grand were invited to conduct an evaluation of a strand of activities sponsored by the Wellcome Trust at the 2014 Latitude Festival.
This annual festival features music, theatre, art, comedy, cabaret, poetry, politics, dance and literature. This year’s theme was Secrets and Lies: what is your truth?, which the Wellcome Trust strand explored from a neuroscientific and biomedical perspective, with events including performances, presentations, discussions and dialogues.
About the evaluation
Margarida led on designing the evaluation, which aimed to gather data in an informal and unobtrusive way, using interviews with presenters, short ‘snapshot’ interviews with participants, event observation and informal feedback methods.
Ann led the evaluation at the festival, supported by two of the 2013-14 cohort of MSc Science Communication students, Tariq Ismail and Tom Gilby, who welcomed the opportunity for some paid work experience in an interesting and unusual environment. Not to mention having the opportunity to see and hear some top-flight music, comedy and poetry!
The evaluation report will be placed on the UWE Bristol repository when it has been completed.
In 2015, Dr Sardo and Dr Grand were directly appointed to carry out the evaluation of the activities at the Latitude Festival 2015. Reports of both evaluations can be found here:
