EU Parliament: ethical concerns and moral issues in artificial intelligence

SCU is producing a report for the EU Parliament on the key ethical issues and challenges associated with artificial intelligence (AI), including robots. The development of AI is dynamic and multifaceted, and there is an urgent need to develop policies that can match the challenges – including, potentially, breaches of fundamental ethical principles.

This report maps the main ethical challenges and moral dilemmas associated with developments in - and deployment of - artificial intelligence, focusing on immediate issues faced by society.

The report also assesses the main ethics-related political, legal and institutional initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence, by comparing the main international initiatives in robot and AI ethics with key contemporary issues. The report also explores in-depth two case studies, one on AI ethics in healthcare and the other on autonomous vehicles.
