Examining the transformative role of BIM to deliver innovation throughout the whole project lifecycle
The Government requires collaborative 3D BIM (Building Information Modelling) with all project and asset information, documentation and data being electronic on its projects. BIM is also increasingly affecting the private sector.
Expertise at the CABER includes examining the transformative role of BIM to deliver innovation throughout the whole project lifecycle, these include:
- Design
- Construction
- Maintenance
- Operations
- Decommissioning.
This research has also entailed the use of HBIM (Historic Building Information Modelling) to preserve our built heritage and offer better intelligence to fire and rescue services in emergency situations in built environments through the CUBER (Critical Urban Buildings Emergency Response) project.
This work has developed new methodologies for decision-making and a series of tools for evaluation, visualisation and optimisation of design, construction and operation activities within a BIM interface.
