UWE Bristol academic appointed board member of national architecture body
UWE Bristol's Head of Department for Architecture and the Built Environment Elena Marco has been appointed to the board of the Architect's Registration Board (ARB), the UK's regulator of the architects' profession.
Elena becomes one of a select few of academics to be appointed to the board of ARB, which was set up by Parliament to ensure good standards within the profession are consistently maintained for the benefit of the public and architects alike.
Through their leadership, ARB board members are responsible for maintaining the public's trust and confidence in the integrity of both of the architects' profession and ARB.
Elena joins 10 other fellow professional experts on the board that bring valuable skills and experience to assist ARB in protecting users of architects' services and supporting architects through regulation.
On her appointment Elena said: "It's an honour be able to strategically support ARB during these uncertain times, to ensure the high standards of the architecture profession are upheld. I also look forward to be able to support ARB in the work they are carrying out regarding the routes to registration."
Minister of State for Housing Kit Malthouse MP said: "The new board will play a crucial role in ensuring architects are suitably qualified in this country, helping maintain public confidence in their work through our high standards."
