UWE Bristol academic appointed honorary professor at prestigious Danish university

A UWE Bristol researcher has been appointed an honorary professor at a prestigious university in Denmark.

Dr Mwidimi Ndosi, associate professor in rheumatology nursing, will become an honorary professor of patient-reported outcome measures and health education in rheumatology at Aarhus University from January 2025.

The appointment follows a rigorous evaluation process and recognises his contributions to the field. It strengthens an existing collaboration between UWE Bristol and the Danish university.

During the five-year professorship, Dr Ndosi will visit Denmark every year to collaborate on postgraduate programmes and research.

Dr Ndosi will collaborate on digital health, education and patient-reported outcome research with Danish colleagues including Professor Annette de Thurah, Professor Ellen-Margrethe Hauge and Dr Line Raunsbaek Knudsen.

He said: "These partnerships are expected to drive forward innovative research that will benefit patients and healthcare systems in rheumatology.

"This appointment underscores the importance of international partnerships in advancing research and education to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and society."

Dr Ndosi is a member of the Centre for Health and Clinical Research (CHCR) at UWE Bristol. His research focuses on health outcomes, health inequities, health education, and non-pharmacological interventions for people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. He is committed to education and mentoring health professionals through taught courses and research supervision and is a strong advocate for patient-centred care.

Aarhus University is a member of the research-intensive Coimbra Group. The professorship will also involve work with Aarhus Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in Denmark.
