Nearly 3,400 students will celebrate their academic achievements at UWE Bristol’s autumn Graduation ceremonies taking place this week (25-28 November) at the Bristol Beacon.

Undergraduate and postgraduate students across the University’s three Colleges will cross the stage, bringing just under 10,000 guests with them across the week to cheer them on.

UWE Bristol has also announced the three individuals receiving Honorary Degrees during the autumn Graduation ceremonies, who are being recognised for outstanding achievements in their chosen fields. They are:

Steve Taylor, CEO of the Cabot Learning Foundation - Honorary Doctor of Education in recognition of his service to education in Bristol and the South West.

Carol Vorderman MBE, broadcaster – Honorary Doctor of Science in recognition of her services to broadcasting and engineering.

Dr Zara Nanu MBE, entrepreneur - Honorary Doctor of Business in recognition of her commitment to addressing inequalities in the workplace and promoting fairness and inclusion.

Three inspirational UWE Bristol alumni will address the graduates over the course of the week, all of whom have gone on to have successful careers after completing their studies at the University. They include Olivia Coy, a 2022 adult nursing alum and multi-award winning innovator who has developed Remedy, a health-tech company aiming to optimise health literacy for people with chronic conditions.

Professor Sir Steve West, Vice-Chancellor of UWE Bristol said: “Congratulations to all our students who are graduating this week. This marks the culmination of years of hard work and dedication to their studies, and we hope they enjoy the occasion with their family and friends.

“We’re really proud to award Honorary Degrees to three outstanding individuals this week. Each recipient is exceptional in their field and I know they will inspire and encourage our graduates as they take their first steps into their chosen careers.”
