TRY-Series

Be part of Team UWE Bristol

UWE Bristol Sport are putting on a TRY-series, aimed at encouraging and supporting staff, students and alumni to participate in swimming, cycling and running.

You can participate in the individual events or take part in all three to complete the TRY-Series.

Open Water Swim

UWE Bristol Sport are including Open Water Swim sessions as part of their Try series. These sessions are for experienced swimmers as they are lifeguarded but not instructed so some experience of open water swimming is advised.  Spaces are limited and must be booked in advance on the UWE Bristol Sport app.

Details: Thursday’s 5pm-7pm between May and June 2024.

Venue: Cromhall Quarry, South Gloucestershire, GL12 8AA.

Cost: Included in your Active card or MOVE membership, or PAYG £5. 

What to bring: You need your own swimwear, wetsuits are optional but if you do not wear a full-length wetsuit you will need a tow float.  Tow floats are available to hire from the venue for a minimal charge.  The session is 2 hours long but you can swim any time during this time.  There is free parking on site.

Try-series:  These sessions are the final part of the UWE Bristol Sport try-series.  If you complete the following you will be in for the chance of winning a prize:

  • Bristol 10k/half
  • Tour de Bristol
  • Record a minimum 500m swim during one of the open water swims

Great Bristol 10K 

Run it, jog it, walk it – the Great Bristol 10k is open to everyone. The 10k will help you to get active and be kind to yourself, as well as introducing you to lots of new running buddies.

Tour de Bristol

The Tour de Bristol will help you to get active and feel good, as well as introducing you to lots of new cycling buddies. 

 

We have a MOVE Teams Group you can join to arrange social rides and stay connected with like minded individuals.
