About the film
First Man depicts the slow progress of the 1960s NASA mission, including failed launches and the tragic cabin fire that killed three Apollo 1 crew members. Funerals are commonplace at NASA, and the astronauts' relationships aren't always smooth.
The film briefly addresses the debate over the justification of expensive space missions during times of hardship and racial injustice, leaning towards prioritizing reason over necessity.
