Description

Our very popular book giveaway is back this year to celebrate Black History Month.

This year's theme for Black History Month is 'Reclaiming Narratives'. We have curated a selection of giveaway books that recognise and correct the narratives of Black history and culture.

Thursday 3 October is National Poetry Day, so we have selected a book where the beauty of words and power of verse take centre stage.

Book bio

Call us what we carry by Amanda Gorman

In her first collection since her infamous 2021 inaugural poem, The hill we climb, Amanda Gorman explores history, language, identity and erasure following the Covid 19 pandemic.

How to take part

Library staff will be hiding copies of this book across Frenchay, Glenside and Bower Ashton campuses and sharing clues about where to find them on our Instagram Stories. If you find a book it is yours to take home and keep. Follow us on Instagram @uwelibrary and keep a watch on our Story to be in with a chance.

If you miss out on finding a book, don't worry, we will be hiding more titles throughout the whole of Black History Month.
