Description
Our very popular book giveaway is back this year to celebrate Black History Month.
This year's theme for Black History Month is 'Reclaiming Narratives'. We have curated a selection of giveaway books that recognise and correct the narratives of Black history and culture.
Book bio
Black teacher by Beryl Gilroy
In 1952, Beryl Gilroy left Guyana and came to London as part of the Windrush Generation. However, she was soon faced with Britain’s racist post-war society. This powerful memoir is now considered a re-discovered classic.
How to take part
Library staff will be hiding copies of this book across Frenchay, Glenside and Bower Ashton campuses and sharing clues about where to find them on our Instagram Stories. If you find a book it is yours to take home and keep. Follow us on Instagram @uwelibrary and keep a watch on our Story to be in with a chance.
If you miss out on finding a book, don't worry, we will be hiding more titles throughout the whole of Black History Month.
