Here are some examples of the client organisations and projects involved in our scheme in recent years.

The Brigstowe Project

The Brigstowe Project is a non-profit organisation based in Bristol, that provides support to those living with and affected by HIV.

Since 1995, they have offered many services including advice and support through dedicated contact persons at the Easton Community Centre.

After evaluating their fundraising activities, our students discovered an opportunity to upscale them, while introducing new and innovative technologies to maximise their operational effectiveness; allowing them to branch out into new areas.

Oodles app launch

Social entrepreneur Matthew Pullinger approached CAKE for help with an existing project to develop a unique and innovative mobile application to manage charity credits for micro-donation fundraising. The focus of the new app, called Oodles, is to encourage young people to spread the word for their favourite charities, unlock achievement and be proud to make a difference. CAKE student consultancy team “Envision” worked closely alongside the Oodles developers on the project and were highly praised for their dedication and effectiveness.

Ambition Lawrence Weston

Ambition Lawrence Weston a resident-led regeneration venture, involved a student team in enhancing its online presence to appeal better to its target audience through a revamped website with social media integration.

Thornbury in Bloom

Thornbury in Bloom wanted to engage a wider section of its community by getting young people involved in civic pride, and making the town look beautiful. The student team developed a content-managed website and extended the group’s social media presence. This project attracted generous media attention from the Bristol Post, Thornbury Gazette and others. Thornbury Gazette praised this collaboration between community groups and UWE Bristol and said “More community groups should take up the idea to combine age and experience with youth and innovation for the benefit of all” (Thornbury Gazette, page 27, Gazette Comment, 19 June 2014).
