Library service interruptions

Information on library maintenance that may cause disruption for users.

E-Resource access system upgrade

On Wednesday 14 August the Library will be updating systems that allow E-Resource access. Although impact is hoped to be minimal, it may mean after this date saved links such as those in browser bookmarks or referencing software may no longer work correctly.

Affected links will start with the following: https://ezproxy.uwe.ac.uk

This start of the link will need to be updated to: https://uwe.idm.oclc.org

Here is an example of an original and updated link:

https://ezproxy.uwe.ac.uk/login?url=https://www.a-n.co.uk/

https://uwe.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.a-n.co.uk/

Known proxy error for Zotero users

We are aware of an issue affecting Zotero users after our EZproxy service migration. We have identified a possible cause as being retained proxy settings in the Zotero plug in. Following the below steps should help resolve the issue.

  • If you are using Firefox: Right-click on the Zotero save button and choose Preferences
  • For Chrome: Right-click on the Zotero save button and choose Options
  • For Safari: Right-click on the page background and choose “Zotero Preferences”
  • This should take you to the Zotero Connector Preferences screen.
  • Select the 'Proxies' tab.
  • Look for an entry in the 'Configured Proxies' box. If there is a link containing 'ezproxy.uwe.ac.uk' remove it.
  • Zotero have a guide which includes screenshots.
  • After following these steps it is recommended to also clear cookies and cache.
