Writer in residence
Project summary
Since 2018 this project has offered one student each year the opportunity to become a commissioned writer in residence. The position was created in conjunction with the UWE Bristol Grand Challenge, on the theme of homelessness in Bristol. The remit for students was to produce a series of creative pieces to raise awareness on this issue. For 2020-21 the focus for the project addressed the experience of living in lockdown.
Our commissioned writers are encouraged to use the UWE Libraries collection of resources as inspiration to produce a minimum of two or three pieces on the given theme. Expert support and advice is provided by programme leaders and senior lecturers on our writing courses. The finished pieces are displayed across our campuses and are made available to read on the Research Repository.
