The impact of festivals on community engagement with research
Understanding how the activities that take place within a festival setting can generate ‘social capital’.
We are investigating UWE Bristol’s role in festival engagement, to understand how the activities that take place within a festival setting can generate ‘social capital’.
A festival can be thought of as a cluster of events with an overarching theme that take place in the same location within a defined timeframe. Social capital is the set of values and understanding that enables groups of people to live and work together. We are interested in looking at the social capital raised among both the researchers who present their work at festivals and participating members of the festival audience.
