International Student Support Fund

This fund is to provide extra financial support for EU, International and Offshore students to remain in higher education.

About the fund

The International Student Support Fund is used to make awards to EU, International and Offshore students who have sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and general living costs but require additional financial support for extra costs or financial problems. It offers non-repayable grants to students who we assess as having a higher expenditure than their available income.

You will be required to meet the minimum required provision (MRP), (once tuition fees have been accounted for) before an assessment can be made for financial support. This must be at least 70% of your composite living costs (CLC) + utilities + monthly rent over the 39-week academic year.

For example, a student with a 39-week assessment period and rent liability of £500 per month will have a minimum required provision of:

  • CLC: £98 x 39 = £3,822
  • Utility bills (if gas and/or electric liability): £19 x 39 = £741
  • Rent: £500 x 9 = £4,500
  • Total MRP is £9,063 x 70% = £6,344
