Think Pacific
Think Pacific Fiji
Think Pacific have a range of award-winning residential volunteering programmes available in rural Fiji. The month-long programmes include a homestay, specialist training, volunteering and cultural exchange. You will become part of island life and take part in volunteer work in your chosen field:
- Building and sustainable development
- Holistic youth empowerment
- Sports development
- Mental health
All projects are requested and overseen by the local community. Think Pacific work closely with the Fijian Government and are important partners on Fiji's National Development Programme.
Think Pacific Bali
Business team internship
During this month-long programme you’ll engage in an innovative internship, crafting practical and sustainable solutions for Bali's enterprises and charities. You’ll tackle real-life projects spanning various sectors, building confidence, employability and global perspectives. This project is perfect for students with entrepreneurial and digital nomad aspirations.
Mental health project
During this month-long programme you’ll immerse yourself in local mental health expertise. You will be contributing to community wellbeing and gaining hands-on involvement in psycho-social activities for mental health support. You don’t need to be studying psychology or health to take part – this project is ideal for anyone interested in mental health and wellbeing,
Funding and costs
Costs and funding options depend on your chosen programme and your eligibility, full information is available at Think Pacific.
UWE Bristol will apply for Turing Funding on behalf of all UWE Bristol students taking part in the programme.
Eligible students will also qualify for an additional £1,000 of funding via the UWE Bristol Employability Bursary.
How to apply
These Think Pacific programmes are open to all students.
There will be a range of start dates available in June, July and August 2025.

The Mighty Roar Sea Turtle conservation in Kefalonia
Volunteer to help conserve critically endangered sea turtles that frequent the sandy beaches of Kefalonia, Greece. Gain hands-on experience as you contribute to important research, all while meeting new people, having fun and exploring the beautiful island. Working alongside environmental biologists and conservationists, you will play a massive part in securing the future of these fascinating creatures in the Mediterranean.
Priority will be given to students within the School of Applied Sciences seeking a placement opportunity.

Gotoco
Gotoco offers you an unrivalled opportunity to explore the world. They provide TEFL training and certification and the chance to immerse yourself in local cultures, languages and stunning scenery.
At UWE Bristol there is the option to country hop on a Gotoco European programme. There are also a few limited places on the Southeastern and Eastern Asia programmes.
Whatever you do, you’ll be able to boost your CV, learn about teaching and contribute to improving global people-to-people relations — vital for facing challenges and changes in our interconnected world.

Project Zulu
Volunteer to take part in school education development projects in the township and rural areas of Madadeni and Dundee, South Africa. Opportunities are available in South Africa and the UK including teaching, engineering, computer science, health, film and journalism and much more.

Catherine Evans, BSc (Hons) Nursing (Learning Disabilities), talks to us about taking part in Project Zulu. Project Zulu is a suite of educational development projects run by UWE Bristol promoting lifelong learning opportunities in the Madadeni Township, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Daigo
Take part in volunteering opportunities as part of Daughters of Africa Foundation's grassroots development projects in Africa. Projects include health and first aid, sports rehabilitation, publishing, eco-building and museum archiving. Visit the Global Centre for more details.
