Accessibility for Open Events
Discover what we’re doing to make Open Events accessible to all.
Making our Open Events accessible for everyone
At UWE Bristol, we’re committed to being inclusive and accessible, which is why we make sure everyone can access our Open Events. Here you’ll discover what we’re doing to make sure we meet everyone’s needs to attend our Open Events.
Accessible accommodation visits
Frenchay Campus
All rooms in the Student Village and Purdown View are accessible to wheelchair users. If you’d like to view our accessible rooms while visiting on an Open Day there, please ask a member of staff in the Accommodation Zone.
Glenside Campus
Glenside Campus accommodation is accessible to wheelchair users. There isn’t a lift so only ground floor rooms are accessible.
City Campus
Phoenix Court and Marketgate are accessible for wheelchair users as both sites have a ramp and lifts available. The bus taking visitors to Phoenix Court and Marketgate has wheelchair access.
If you wish to view an accessible room please email Accommodation Services at accommodation@uwe.ac.uk so the team can arrange a personalised tour for you.
Please note that our modified accessible rooms are all on Frenchay Campus.
Accessibility needs
Parking
We have accessible parking available at all UWE Bristol sites. You’ll just need to select this on the registration form when you book, then we’ll contact you to confirm where you can park.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome on campus and when visiting accommodation, however there may be some restricted areas such as technical teaching spaces where this is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
BSL interpreters and audio loops
If you need a British Sign Language qualified interpreter or an audio loop to support you, please contact us at least a week before to discuss your needs and make any arrangements in time. Please get in touch before the Open Event so we can discuss your needs and make the required arrangements in time.
Disability, neurodivergence and mental health support
To find out how we can support you while studying with us, please speak to our experts in the Information and Advice Zone at the open event.
Getting around campus
If you’d like to familiarise yourself with the campus ahead of your visit, you can view our campus maps for Frenchay, Glenside and Bower Ashton (City Campus). You can also explore our photo gallery and view a virtual tour.
The campus is accessible in terms of automatic doors, level access to most buildings, lifts, plus our student ambassadors can help you find your way around and show you to the nearest lift, for example.
Our internal wayfinding app is a useful tool to help find your way around campus.
Taking a break
Exploring our campuses can involve a lot of time on your feet, but there's plenty of seating around so you can take a break whenever you want to.
Frenchay Campus
You'll find seating in all main areas near the refreshments. OneZone in E block also has plenty of seating indoors and on the terrace outside and is located near the Information and Advice Zone and Accommodation Zone.
Glenside Campus
There’s lots of seating available in The Hub and benches outside.
City Campus
The Information and Advice Zone is centrally located and next to a café, where this is lots of seating available. You’ll also find many benches in outdoor areas on each campus.
Guests
You're allowed to select up to two guests to bring along on the booking form, but if you need to bring additional carers or supporter workers then you're welcome to do so, and do not need to notify us. You're very welcome to bring children along to the Open Events too, in addition to your two guests. We have baby changing facilities available and lifts for pushchair access.
