In Britain clay bricks are a significant building material. We enjoy a remarkably rich choice, reflecting not only the variety of the different clays, but also the diversity of manufacturing methods. This film shows hoe clay bricks are formed by hand-making, machine moulding, pressing and extrusion, and shows how they are fired in traditional kilns and continuous-burning multi chamber and tunnel kilns.
It was written by Mike Hammett (Brick Development Association).
